""I make a mistake," she said. "I'm so sorry. It's a culture thing. I don't know. I don't know. I'm so sorry. I feel so bad right now. I'm so sorry honey," Greco told The City."
""failed payoff""
""accidentally""
Winnie Greco, 62, a top adviser to Mayor Eric Adams and an adviser to his reelection campaign, handed a City reporter a crumpled bag of Herr's sour cream and onion rippled potato chips that contained cash near a Harlem campaign office. The reporter initially refused the chips, then met Greco at a TD Bank and Whole Foods where Greco insisted. After parting, the reporter discovered a red envelope with at least one $100 bill and several $20 bills inside the chip bag. Greco apologized, called it an accidental cultural mistake, and later spoke with an attorney. Neither Mayor Adams nor his reelection campaign are implicated.
