The New York Islanders beat the Tampa Bay Lightning 3-2 in a shootout at UBS Arena. The Isles opened with first-period goals from Matthew Schaefer on a 4-on-3 power play and Calum Ritchie following an Anthony Duclair rush. Bo Horvat did not play. The Lightning chipped away and tied the game in the third after outshooting the Islanders 34-17. Goaltender Ilya Sorokin made several highlight-reel saves, benefited from the post, and stopped shootout attempts to secure the win. Sorokin improved to 12 wins with a 2.50 GAA and a .912 save percentage.
