""I have found someone who shares the realization that this job is not about our egos," Hochul told reporters Thursday afternoon. "We are so looking forward to introducing her to the rest of the state and let the rest of New Yorkers see what I see in her. We are going to be an incredible team.""
""New York is looking for a fighter at this moment in our history," Hochul said. "I've found a strong woman - a woman who knows how to take it to the streets, one who knows how to fight back. So no one can question what Adrienne Adams brings to this fight in this moment of history right now." "She's demonstrated that in one of the toughest jobs you think of in our state," the governor added, "so I don't see how anybody can question her ability to do the number one job.""
Kathy Hochul introduced former New York City Council Speaker Adrienne Adams as her lieutenant governor running mate at the state Democratic Party nominating convention in Syracuse. Adams replaces Lt. Gov. Antonio Delgado and becomes Hochul's third lieutenant governor pick after Brian Benjamin resigned amid federal corruption charges that were later dropped. Party leaders will vote to grant Democratic endorsements and automatic primary ballot access. Brooklyn Democratic leader Rodneyse Bichotte Hermelyn withdrew the county's endorsement in protest of the choice. Hochul defended Adams' record on affordable housing, child care and education and described her as a strong fighter. Adams denied any personal conflict with Bichotte Hermelyn.
