""Something I'd laugh at if it happened to me: When the Islanders visited Washington last week, someone with the Capitals who is friendly with Mathew Barzal jokingly had an alarm clock placed in his dressing room stall," Friedman wrote. "The talented forward missed the previous night's game in Carolina because he was late for the morning skate. We learn our lessons, take our lumps and move on.""
""Yeah, it was Beau,""
The New York Islanders beat the Washington Capitals 3-1 at Capital One Arena on Halloween, with Mathew Barzal scoring an empty-net goal with 1:16 remaining. Barzal missed the previous night's game against the Carolina Hurricanes after being late for the morning skate and was disciplined by head coach Patrick Roy. A Capitals player who is friendly with Barzal placed an alarm clock in Barzal's dressing-room stall as a prank when the Islanders arrived in Washington. Only four current Capitals have been teammates with Barzal: Anthony Beauvillier, Pierre-Luc Dubois, Dylan Strome, and Logan Thompson. Anthony Beauvillier later confirmed his involvement in the prank.
