"It felt good to be back with the guys and back in a regular routine. It was lonely back here, skating by yourself and stuff, so it felt good to be back with the guys and hopefully be good to go tomorrow. I just want to make sure it's right. I want to make sure I'm ready to go 100% and be at my best when I come back."
"I owe that to the guys, to the team, to come back and be ready to go. I'm feeling better and better as the days go on. Anytime somebody's gone down, somebody's stepped up and carried us in a big way. Whether it's goaltending, somebody on the back end or even up front - guys are contributing. Different guys are stepping up at different times and we're going to need that going forward."
Bo Horvat is expected to return Saturday against the Buffalo Sabres after missing time since Jan. 1 with a lower-body injury. He rejoined practice this week and expressed relief and eagerness to return while stressing the need to be fully ready before playing. Horvat emphasized that he will not rush back and wants to contribute at his best. He watched the Islanders go 3-3-1 on a seven-game road trip and praised teammates for stepping up in his absence. Horvat was named the lone Islander on Canada's Olympic roster and seeks game shape before Milan. He leads the team with 21 goals and 12 assists.
