"I understand that Politico has got to sell subscriptions,"
"I kind of believe in Occam's razor. The simplest explanation is the best one."

"conspiracy theory."
Bally's Bronx casino won a 5-1 community advisory council vote and advanced as a finalist for one of three downstate casino licenses. The ground-up proposal now moves to the state Gaming Commission. The site is the Ferry Point Park golf course purchased from Donald Trump in 2023; the city retains ownership while Bally's manages the property, and Trump could receive $115 million if the project proceeds. Allegations linked consultant Steve Witkoff and adviser Frank Carone to discussions about a possible Trump appointment for Mayor Eric Adams; Bally's chair dismissed the connections as a "conspiracy theory" and an Adams spokesperson called the insinuations "inaccurate insinuations." Adams ended his reelection bid. The proposal faced neighborhood opposition and one dissenting CAC vote from Bronx Republican Marmorato.
