The New York Islanders defeated the Florida Panthers 5-4 on Sunday night with Anders Lee scoring the game-winning goal with 32 seconds left. Rookie defenseman Matthew Schaefer contributed two goals and an assist, reaching 20 goals on the season and moving within three of Brian Leetch's NHL record for most goals by a rookie defenseman. David Rittich made 28 saves for New York. Carson Soucy and Bo Horvat also scored for the Islanders, who improved to 8-2 in their last 10 games. Florida's Sam Bennett scored twice, with Sandis Vilmanis and Sam Reinhart adding goals. The Panthers jumped to a 2-0 first-period lead but couldn't hold on as the Islanders mounted their comeback.
