The New York Giants have re-signed quarterback Tommy DeVito to a one-year deal worth $1.03 million after he performed well as an undrafted rookie last season. As the only quarterback under contract, the Giants plan to bring in a veteran option, with Aaron Rodgers and Russell Wilson as top free-agent candidates. DeVito, 26, gained popularity for his inspiring story, having led the Giants to three consecutive victories last year before facing an arm injury. With the offseason approach, the Giants aim to build a competitive roster for the 2025 season.
"We're going to look for the best player available that can help us win games in '25," general manager Joe Schoen said recently. "That's what we're going to do."
DeVito, 26, burst onto the scene as an undrafted rookie when he started and won three straight games, including when he led a game-winning drive in the final minutes of a Monday Night Football win over the Green Bay Packers.
The New Jersey native became an instant sensation for his underdog story and Italian heritage. The local product, a native of Cedar Grove, New Jersey, remains a fan favorite.
Last year's No. 2, Drew Lock, is set to become a free agent.
