"It was as if there were two different versions of the New York Giants' offense this summer and at training camp. One that Russell Wilson and the first-team offense ran and the other that rookie quarterback Jaxson Dart operated with the second team. In reality, the plays weren't all that different, in fact, mostly the same. Yet, the on-field product looked vastly different when Dart was behind center."
""Obviously, it's going to be some new stuff. Just more of what he did in college. Obviously, just going to be some new faces for the NFL to see," wide receiver Wan'Dale Robinson said. "And defenses haven't seen exactly our offense and the things we can do. It will be exciting to see what we do out there on Sunday.""
Two distinct offensive looks emerged in summer practices, one with Russell Wilson and another with rookie Jaxson Dart running similar plays but producing different results. Dart, the 25th pick, offers greater athleticism and youthful mobility than 36-year-old Wilson and carried a predraft impression that appealed to coach Brian Daboll. The team plans to start Dart against the Chargers in his first career start. New York has shown zone-read and RPO concepts with Dart; he played six regular-season snaps, all runs, gaining 38 yards (6.3 yards per play). By contrast, three Wilson zone-reads produced five yards (1.7 per play).
