Daboll noncommittal on Giants QB for Week 2
""We're going to get home and look at our game,""
""I've got confidence ... we have to do better around overall -- coaches, players, [all] around everybody. So we'll get focused and ready to go on to Dallas.""
""We'll go back, evaluate the tape. This game isn't on Russell Wilson. It's not on Russell Wilson. Let me make that clear. I have confidence in Russ. We have to do a better job all the way around.""
Brian Daboll refused to definitively name the Week 2 starter after the New York Giants fell 23-6 to the Washington Commanders. Russell Wilson completed 17 of 37 passes for 168 yards with no touchdowns or interceptions and struggled under pressure, completing just 2 of 12 pressured throws for 26 yards while absorbing two sacks and scrambling twice. First-round pick Jaxson Dart served as the backup ahead of Jameis Winston. The Giants managed 231 total yards, averaged 3.2 yards per rush and failed twice in the red zone. Daboll expressed confidence in Wilson but said coaches and players must improve; Wilson cited red-zone failures.
