Zohran Mamdani accused Andrew Cuomo of failing to visit mosques during his decade as governor and said Cuomo only set foot in a mosque after losing to a Muslim primary candidate. Mamdani challenged Cuomo's record, saying Cuomo could not name a single mosque he visited while in office and insisted Muslim New Yorkers want equality and respect. Cuomo responded that he had worked with the Muslim community for many years and cited imams presiding over state events and participation in religious and tolerance working groups. Cuomo campaigned at a mosque for the first time last month.
