"While being with him through the churches and the streets of Flatbush and working with community members, he definitely resonated with them,"

"We are not asking for a lot,"
"What we are asking for is a life of dignity and now we're going to make it happen together. Zohran is for us."
A Zoom meeting on October 19 convened Haitian American politicians, campaign staff, and community members to focus on Zohran Mamdani's mayoral campaign. Assemblymember Rodneyse Bichotte Hermelyn, who formerly backed Andrew Cuomo, endorsed Mamdani after his Democratic primary victory and praised his grassroots work in Flatbush. Assemblymember Phara Souffrant Forrest helped mobilize early Haitian American support and emphasized dignity for residents. Mamdani has appeared at community events including the BAYO concert and Little Caribbean, pledged solidarity with Haitians, vowed protection from ICE raids, and centered his platform on making New York City more affordable for immigrant communities.
