Woman's Remains Found in Bag at Brooklyn Public Housing Building as NYPD Investigates
"A grisly find in Brooklyn has rattled the NYCHA's Borinquen Plaza II community as the remains of a woman were discovered in the basement of a public housing building on Bushwick Avenue. According to Gothamist, NYPD officers were responding to a 911 call about an unconscious person on Sunday morning when they made the discovery. Police are conducting an ongoing investigation, but details such as the identity and age of the woman have not been released pending family notification, with the city's Office of the Chief Medical Examiner set to determine the cause of death."
"Further unsettling details emerged as ABC7NY reported that the remains were found inside a bag by NYCHA workers. The incident occurred just after 9:30 a.m. when a janitor came across a suspiciously heavy bag in the lower level of the building. Upon opening the bag, they made a harrowing discovery -- the corpse was cut into pieces. "The workers they found that they heard screaming. The realized the back are too heavy, so they opened it up and the first thing they see is he head staring at them, so they ain't going to be the same anymore. These people work in these buildings," said Vincent Valcassel in a statement obtained by ABC7NY."
"As the investigation proceeds, detectives are scouring the building for any information that might shed light on the unsettling event. The community is shaken, and some, like local resident Aniel Riveyra, are expressing their alarm. "I'm like scared out of my mind. I don't what it's going to go like if it's going to continue happening, or is this like a one-time incident?" Riveyra told ABC7NY. While authorities have yet to make any arrests in connection to the case, the NYPD is likely hoping that their floor-by-floor investigation will yield clues that lead to a resolution."
