The New York Hall of Science in Queens is launching an interactive exhibit named CityWorks, which opens on May 3 and aims to impart empathy for bus drivers. It features a simulated bus-driving experience where visitors navigate busy streets. As the largest exhibit in over ten years, spanning 6,000-square feet and costing $8 million, CityWorks also explores the evolution of urban infrastructure. Collaborating with the Science Museum of Minnesota, the exhibit provides an engaging way to understand the complexities of city management and services.
I think this gives you so much empathy for bus drivers, said the worker, Dana Schloss, associate vice president of exhibits at the museum.
The exhibit gives visitors a sense of what it's like to drive a bus in New York.
CityWorks... unabashedly celebrates cities by exploring how they were developed and built... and often messy infrastructure to provide water, sanitation and transportation.
The museum's largest exhibit in more than a decade... sprawls across 6,000-square feet... cost $8 million.
