Trick-or-Streets converts neighborhood blocks, plazas, and open streets into car-free Halloween zones across all five boroughs through October 31. The program grew from a one-week experiment into a two-week citywide festival that emphasizes walkability and local programming. Families can expect live music, interactive performances, seasonal games, and arts and crafts tailored to kids and teens. The NYC Department of Transportation coordinates with community groups, local businesses, and city agencies to produce neighborhood-specific events. The format reduces street traffic risks on one of the busiest and deadliest nights for children by providing protected spaces for trick-or-treating. Staten Island's Castleton Avenue event occurred October 18.
