A federal indictment unsealed May 28, 2026 charges Jahrid Dawkins, Kadin West (“Kay Backends”), and Milan Wright (“BabyyThreat”) in the August 7, 2025 killing of 33-year-old Ralph Herrera. Dawkins is listed as an 18-year-old from Edison, New Jersey, while West, 23, and Wright, 19, are identified as Bronx residents. Prosecutors allege the murder followed an August 5, 2025 altercation in front of a Bronx store and that West and Wright discussed retaliation afterward. On August 7, Dawkins allegedly approached Herrera masked in all-black clothing and shot him in the side of the head at point-blank range, with the shooting captured on video. Each defendant faces racketeering conspiracy, carrying a maximum life sentence for Dawkins and West and up to 20 years for Wright, and all have been ordered detained while the federal case proceeds.
