The city granted Waymo a permit to test a small fleet of autonomous vehicles in parts of Manhattan and Downtown Brooklyn. The pilot will deploy eight approved autonomous vehicles for testing and will run with an "AV specialist" behind the wheel through late September. City officials emphasize robust safety requirements for the trial.
