"A rookie NYPD officer was arrested in Brooklyn early Friday morning and charged with strangling a 22-year-old woman during a domestic dispute, police said. Sajid Mehmood, 24, was arrested at an apartment building on Argyle Rd. near Newkirk Ave. in Ditmas Park just before 3 a.m., according to police. He was charged with strangulation and assault. Mehmood allegedly choked a 22-year-old woman who is a member of his family, a police source said."
"More information about his relationship with the victim was not immediately forthcoming. Mehmood has been a member of NYPD since April 2024, according to public records. He is currently assigned to the 62nd Precinct in Bensonhurst, where he has served since August. He was previously assigned to the 66th Precinct in Borough Park. Mehmood's arraignment in Brooklyn Criminal Court was pending Friday night."
