"An investigation is ongoing after a police-involved shooting resulted in the death of a man inside NewYork-Presbyterian Brooklyn Methodist Hospital on Thursday night. Officers responded to multiple 911 calls about a violent man armed with a knife who had barricaded himself in a room on the eighth floor of the hospital. According to NYPD Assistant Chief Charles Minch, the man had threatened to harm himself and others, including an elderly patient and a hospital security guard."

"Police attempted to subdue the man using Tasers twice, but the efforts were ineffective. As the man advanced toward officers with the weapon, they discharged their firearms, striking him. The man, who was a patient admitted the previous day, was pronounced dead shortly after the incident. The suspect's identity has not been released, but he was identified as a 62-year-old male."
