"A New York City police officer was wounded in the face during a shootout with a homicide suspect in Brooklyn on Monday, law enforcement sources said. The injured officer was at the scene of a homicide that occurred earlier in the morning in Brownsville when the alleged gunman showed up with a shotgun and opened fire, sources said. The officer suffered wounds to his face and was rushed to a Brookdale hospital. Both the hurt cop and another NYPD officer who were guarding the crime scene returned fire."
