"I'm very happy to be back with New York City FC for another season, Moralez said. The club is home for me, and I'm motivated to keep helping the team and working toward our objectives. We know what we're capable of as a group, and my focus is on giving everything I have to help us compete and win trophies this season."
"Maxi produced a stellar season in 2025, demonstrating the consistency, creativity, and leadership that have defined his time with the club, NYCFC's new sporting director, Todd Dunivant, said. Maxi continues to impact games in meaningful ways, and beyond the on-field contributions, Maxi's experience, competitiveness, and approach around the locker room help reinforce the club's identity. We're pleased to have Maxi back with New York City for another season."
Maxi Moralez re-signed with New York City FC for the 2026 MLS season at age 38, extending a tenure that began in 2017. He is the only player in club history to surpass 200 MLS appearances (240) and leads the franchise in goal contributions (139). In 2025 he recorded two goals and 11 assists across 34 starts, becoming the oldest player in league history to start every match in a 34-game format. He scored the lone goal in NYCFC's 1-0 Eastern Conference semifinal upset of Philadelphia, sending the team to its first conference final since 2022. Club leadership praised his consistency, creativity, leadership, experience, and locker-room impact.
