Catsimatidis' father John Catsimatidis, the billionaire businessman who owns WABC Radio and the station's parent company, Red Apple Media had called on Sliwa to drop out of the race on Monday to unify support behind Cuomo."

He lost his own party's primary, badly, and is not even appearing on the ballot on a major party line. Five Republican Party county leaders in New York City reaffirmed unequivocal support for mayoral nominee Curtis Sliwa ahead of the Nov. 4 general election. The Oct. 21 vote of confidence responded to public calls for Sliwa to drop out to give former Gov. Andrew Cuomo a better chance of beating Democratic nominee Zohran Mamdani. The GOP chairs said Republican voters will not back Cuomo, noting he lost his party primary and is not on a major party line, and declared they will not allow the political class to hijack the ballot. Several county chairs publicly named their support, and Sliwa remains in the race despite calls to withdraw.
