NYC Mayor's Race: Cuomo votes in Sutton Place while shaking off Trump backing, hopes heavy turnout will break his way | amNewYork
"It's the first time I ever walked into a polling place and the polling place cheered for me, Cuomo told reporters after voting. That's a good sign."
"I believe the city is seeing record turnout because New Yorkers are concerned about the future of New York and concerned about the Democratic Party."
"This is the most important election of my lifetime, Cuomo said. And I'm not a kid."
Andrew Cuomo cast his ballot at Art and Design High School in Midtown East near his Sutton Place apartment, joined by his daughters. He was greeted with cheers upon entering the polling place, a first in his decades-long political career. The city recorded 732,866 early voters over nine days in the mayoral race. Baby Boomers and Gen X constituted 58% of early voters, with 24% aged 44–60 and 34% aged 60 or older; voters aged 18–44 represented roughly 42%. Cuomo emphasized strong older-voter turnout as a potential path to an upset while recent polls show him narrowing but still trailing Mamdani by 6–15%.
