NYC Ferry service between Staten Island and Brooklyn: What riders need to know
"Starting on Dec. 8, the NYC Ferry system will connect Staten Island and Brooklyn. The boats will now travel between the existing fast ferry stops in St. George and the American Veterans Memorial Pier at 69th Street in Bay Ridge. The move comes as the New York City Economic Development Corporation, which oversees the NYC Ferry, has revamped the system's existing routes."
"There will be two legs on the St. George route. One will be the familiar connection to western Manhattan, with stops at Battery Park City and Midtown West at Pier 79. The second leg will proceed from the Island's North Shore to Bay Ridge, before continuing to the Atlantic Avenue stop at Brooklyn Bridge Park. The final stop on this leg of the route will be in lower Manhattan Wall Street at Pier 11."
NYC Ferry service will begin direct trips between St. George on Staten Island and the American Veterans Memorial Pier at 69th Street in Bay Ridge beginning Dec. 8. The New York City Economic Development Corporation revamped existing routes to add the Brooklyn connection while retaining the west side service. The St. George route will operate two legs: one to Battery Park City and Midtown West at Pier 79, and a second from the North Shore to Bay Ridge, Atlantic Avenue at Brooklyn Bridge Park, and Pier 11 at Wall Street. Trip frequencies will change to about every 37 minutes during peak hours and roughly 50 minutes during off-peak as the route doubles in size. Expansion had been paused in 2022 due to financial issues with the system.
