The perpetrator, later identified as Sebastian Zapata-Calil, 33, was ultimately indicted on murder charges."

The suspect used an unidentified substance to ignite the victim's lower body while the 55-year-old man dozed. The victim exited at Times Square and was aided by an MTA worker and officers from Midtown North Precinct and NYPD Transit District 1. He suffered lower-body burns, remained conscious and alert, and was taken to NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Police described the suspect as a Hispanic male and urged the public to provide tips.
