An NYPD patrol car struck and killed an unidentified man in Flushing Meadows Corona Park near the Billie Jean King National Tennis Center shortly before 5 p.m. on Aug. 24. An officer from the 110th Precinct was driving about 10 miles per hour on United Nations Ave. South when the vehicle rolled over a man who was lying face up on the roadway. EMS transported the man to Presbyterian Hospital, where he died of his injuries. Authorities have not identified the man or determined why he was on the ground. The NYPD Highway District Collision Investigation Squad is investigating and requests confidential tips to Crime Stoppers.
