"Benjamin allegedly followed the 21-year-old woman to her front door and forced her inside the home on 131st Avenue at gunpoint on Sept. 15, 1996, according to police and prosecutors. The defendant threatened to kill her husband and child before allegedly raping her. Michael Benjamin, 57, was arrested and charged with rape after fingerprint and DNA evidence linked him to multiple attacks in Queens between 1995 and 1997. Investigators allege five women were raped during violent nighttime home invasions, including one incident where two women were assaulted simultaneously. Reported offenses include breaking into a 24-year-old woman's home, covering her head and tying her up, an alleged gunpoint abduction and rape of a 21-year-old, and an assault where a jacket was placed over a 27-year-old's head. Police said the attacker stole cash and jewelry in some incidents. Benjamin repeatedly proclaimed his innocence at the time of arrest.
