An Upper West Sider experienced a rare discovery aboard an 11 train while headed to the West Village. The 11 train, unlike the recently noted 9 train in Manhattan, is not a familiar line to the area and previously operated on the Myrtle Avenue line in Brooklyn before being replaced by the M and J trains. Multiple terminated lines, including the 8 and 12, have also been spotted in the city, indicating a strange trend of these lines reemerging.
The 11 train is not an 'old friend' that used to make stops in the neighborhood. It is difficult to confirm the exact route of the former 11 line, which operated along the Myrtle Avenue line in Brooklyn before its replacement.
The baffling phenomenon of rogue cars reemerging from 'extinct' subway lines continues. It's strange to spot old lines like the 11 train reappearing.
