Judge scolds serial dine-and-dash diva Pei Chung after she interrupts hearing: 'When I speak you don't!'
"A judge scolded accused serial dine-and-dash diva Pei Chung as she traded her designer duds for prison scrubs in Brooklyn court Wednesday. Dressed in a drab olive-colored jail uniform, Chung, 34 - who allegedly skipped out on at least eight restaurant bills in a month - repeatedly interrupted Judge Orville Reynolds during her Brooklyn criminal court hearing. "When I speak you don't speak! Understand?!" Reynolds finally snapped."
"The Prada-loving wannabe influencer - who previously posted photos of herself decked out in furs and high-end Louis Vuitton and Hermes accessories - looked disheveled in handcuffs as she stood next to her attorney. During the hearing, Chung's lawyer, Henry Dechalus, asked the judge to forbid photography in the courtroom. "Your honor, I have spoken to my client and she feels that it would violate her rights to allow the media to sell images of her," Dechalus said."
"But the judge allowed photography, citing public interest in the case. On Nov. 26, Chung was ordered to undergo a psych evaluation after her lawyer claimed she can't understand the charges against her. Chung has had the cops called on her at least 10 times for dine-and-dashing, including at trendy Big Apple eateries such as Francie, Lavender Lake, Motorino and Peter Luger, according to police."
Pei Chung, 34, allegedly skipped out on multiple restaurant bills and faced repeated police calls for dine-and-dashing at several New York eateries. She appeared in Brooklyn criminal court wearing a jail uniform and was described as repeatedly interrupting the judge, who admonished her. Her lawyer sought to bar courtroom photography, arguing media sales of images would violate her rights, but the judge permitted photos citing public interest. On Nov. 26 Chung was ordered to undergo a psychiatric evaluation after her attorney said she could not understand the charges. She was charged with theft-of-services and sent to Rikers Island.
