"We all made a pact as a defense, player to player: That will never happen again,"
"We all took constructive criticism from each other, (and) owned up to what we need to do right and get better,"
"Let me say this: I don't think anything in the first two weeks has been schematic,"
The New York Jets were humbled by a poor defensive performance and vowed to prevent a repeat after a 30-10 loss to the Buffalo Bills. The defense allowed 224 rushing yards, the most in a game since 2021, and has surrendered 64 points in two games. James Cook rushed for 132 yards and two touchdowns, and penalties — including four that produced first downs and a roughing-the-passer call on Micheal Clemons — compounded the problems. Players, led by Quinnen Williams, held a defensive meeting, owned up to mistakes and committed to improvement while coach Steve Wilks said schematic issues were not the cause as the team prepares to face the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
