The victim was threatened with physical harm - including threats of being run over by a vehicle or being pepper-sprayed - if she did not pay or went to the authorities."
Valezka Echeverrias, 31, was indicted on 11 counts including sex trafficking, grand larceny, coercion, and promoting prostitution. She allegedly paid for a victim to come from Mexico and housed the victim for about six months, during which the victim was forced to pay $800 nightly by engaging in sex with men on Roosevelt Avenue. The victim was allegedly coerced into robbing clients to meet quotas and was physically harmed when noncompliant. Echeverrias is also accused of extorting another woman in 2023 by demanding $100 daily and threatening physical harm if the woman refused or sought help. She was arraigned and ordered to return to court.
