"It's the first Blizzard Warning for New York City in nearly a decade, since 2017. The Big Apple is forecast to get between 12-18 inches of snow from Sunday into Monday. "Wind gusts of 50 mph are forecast for New York City during this event. The snow and wind combination will make for extremely dangerous travel conditions. New York City, Long Island and the New Jersey shore are under a Blizzard Warning from 6 a.m. Sunday through 6 p.m. Monday as a powerful nor'easter approaches. Snow is expected to begin Sunday afternoon with forecasts increasing and totals of 12–18 inches possible for New York City. Blizzard conditions require heavy snow, winds of at least 35 mph and visibility under 1/4 mile for three hours; gusts up to 50 mph are expected. Travel will be extremely dangerous, power outages are possible across boroughs and Long Island, and officials advise limiting travel and staying indoors. Snow should end westward Monday and clear the region by Tuesday morning.
