"Majors, 18, an aspiring punk-rock musician, fought like hell, biting Weaver in the finger and causing him to fly into a rage, stabbing her as feathers flew out of her down jacket. Davis admitted to picking up a knife dropped by Weaver and handing it back to him. Lewis held Majors in a headlock, and Weaver repeatedly knifed her, piercing her heart and leaving her to die."
"Because of Raise the Age, which was pushed by lefty lawmakers and raised the age of criminal responsibility to 18 in an attempt to keep children out of jail, Davis was tried in family court and received only 18 months in juvenile detention. The two other teens were charged as adults, with Weaver getting 14 years to life and Lewis nine years to life."
Zyairr Davis, involved in the 2019 Morningside Park killing of Barnard student Tessa Majors at age 13, was processed in family court under Raise the Age and received 18 months in juvenile detention after pleading guilty to first-degree robbery. Two co-defendants were prosecuted as adults and received lengthy prison terms. Juvenile release timing remains unclear due to sealed records. By 2023, Davis allegedly participated in a retaliatory shooting in Harlem, reportedly obtaining a gun at the Lincoln Houses and firing into a crowd. Additional incidents on his record include an attempted murder charge and a biting attack on a jail guard.
