"A video of a vile stretch of Bruckner Boulevard in the Mott Haven section of the Bronx went viral Monday as inconsiderate owners continue to leave their pets' business on the ground, seemingly emboldened not to scoop the poop in the weeks since an Arctic deepfreeze and massive storm left piles of snow across the five boroughs. "It's horrible: It's, like, garbage and poop everywhere," Mott Haven resident Lulu Gerena, 28, fumed to The Post while walking her Beagle-mix Pinkie near the stench-filled stretch."
"There were a whopping 643 dog waste calls made to the city's 311 reporting system citywide between Jan. 25's snowstorm and Tuesday - a nearly 94% increase in the 332 complaints made during the same period in 2025 and a startling 160% increase from just two weeks prior."
"Data shows the viral, vile stretch in Boogie Down - which ironically has a very visible sign urging dog walkers to "bag it up" - doesn't even crack the top filthiest streets in the city based on number of complaints, according to city data."
Mott Haven sidewalks have become heavily littered with dog feces, leaving stretches nearly impassable and producing strong odors. A viral video captured a particularly foul segment of Bruckner Boulevard after an Arctic deepfreeze and a major storm left snow piles across the city. Resident complaints to 311 spiked, with 643 dog waste calls between Jan. 25's snowstorm and Tuesday, a roughly 94% rise from 332 complaints during the same period in 2025 and 160% higher than two weeks earlier. Residents attribute the increase to new housing bringing more dogs and to cold weather and snow discouraging scooping. City data show the viral block is not among the top complaint locations.
