Exclusive | NYC cops battle raging fire to save residents, dog in Coney Island
Briefly

On August 10, two NYPD officers rescued two men and their dog from a rapidly burning home in Coney Island. After noticing smoke during their patrol, they quickly located the fire and determined there was no time to wait for the fire department. The officers broke into the home, where they found the men sleeping, unaware of the fire. They successfully led the men and their dog to safety. Their swift action prevented a potential tragedy as the fire spread rapidly.
"We saw the fire raging at the back of the house," Officer Andy Guo stated. "There was no time to wait for the fire department. We heard the dog barking."
"I had to get access to the house," Guo explained. "My mind and body was just on autopilot. I didn't think too hard, I just had to get in there."
"They didn't notice the house was on fire," Guo remarked. "I feel like if we had waited, who knows what could have happened?"
"We were able to corner the dog," De Sciora noted. "There was really no time to think. Training and tactics took over."
