Eric Adams adviser suspended from campaign after being accused of giving local reporter cash
Briefly

Winnie Greco, a longtime ally, adviser and fundraiser for Mayor Eric Adams, attempted to hand cash concealed in a Herr's Sour Cream & Onion ripple potato chip bag to City Hall reporter Katie Honan after a campaign event in Harlem. Honan initially refused the snack, discovered a wad of cash including at least one $100 bill and several $20 bills, and texted Greco offering to return it. Greco apologized, called the offer "a mistake," and described the act as "a culture thing," a position echoed by her attorney. The Adams campaign suspended Greco from volunteer activities and said the mayor had no prior knowledge.
"But I assure you that Winnie's intent was purely innocent. In the Chinese culture, money is often given to others in a gesture of friendship and gratitude. Winnie is apologetic and embarrassed by any negative impression or confusion this may have caused."
"I can't take this, when can I give it back to you,"
"Grecco [sic] holds no position in this campaign and has been suspended from all VOLUNTEER campaign-related activities."
