Debra Messing publicly voted for Cuomo and posted more than 100 Instagram Stories attacking Mamdani before the race was called. The posts included anti-Mamdani graphics and videos, reposts of conservative outlets, Islamophobic memes and a Truth Social post from Donald Trump calling Jewish Mamdani voters "a stupid person." Some reposts labeled Mamdani as a communist or jihadist despite his democratic socialist affiliation. Social media users noted Messing reached Instagram's 100-stories limit and criticized the content as a crashout. The backlash intensified as Mamdani won.
