A Brooklyn judge is set to rule on Mayor Adams's proposal to remove safety enhancements from a three-block stretch of Bedford Avenue's bike lane. The legal challenge, led by former Assembly Member Frank Seddio, cites claims from local residents asserting that the bike lane increases risk for pedestrians. In response, supporters present testimonies highlighting how the bike lane has enhanced safety for cyclists and pedestrians. Concerns of bias exist due to campaign contributions received by the judge from individuals linked to the opposition.
Prior to the Bedford bike lane, I avoided Bedford because it always felt like I was literally risking my life.
It's sad that the opponents are ignorant of the safety it brings to all of us.
