Capital Region, Hudson Valley cities take precautions against winter weather

In Albany, Mayor Kathy Sheehan says city crews have more than 60 pieces of equipment responding to the snow, with crews working in 12-hour shifts. City leaders ask people to avoid travel."
""I know it's going to be a work day; if you can work from home ... the less vehicles on the street, the better for our plows and are safer for the men and women of our department," said Albany Department of General Services Commissioner Sergio Panunzio. A number of Hudson Valley municipalities have declared snow emergencies. In Newburgh, alternate side of the street regulations are in effect, and city officials say any car parked illegally during the emergency is going to be towed."
