Building, preserving and planning to make our city more affordable - The Chief
Briefly

Affordable housing is a crucial agenda for New York City's administration, recognized through public engagement. Personal experience with homelessness informs a commitment to this issue. The administration is taking decisive action, emphasizing a comprehensive approach to creating new homes. Recently, during 'Housing Week,' initiatives were presented, showcasing record achievements in affordable housing production. The administration reported the creation, preservation, or planning of over 426,000 homes, with a focus on helping previously homeless New Yorkers. Historic investments are driving success in connecting individuals to affordable housing options via the housing lottery.
Our administration has shattered affordable housing records year after year. Now, we're adding another 'year' to that list: Fiscal Year 2025. This past fiscal year, we produced the most affordable rental units in city history and the most homes for formerly homeless New Yorkers.
I know what it feels like to worry about whether or not you will have a roof over your head at night. That's a feeling that too many New Yorkers still feel, and that's because too many administrations have kicked the can down the road when it came to dealing with our housing crisis.
