"A Bronx murder suspect died of an apparent allergic reaction suffered while incarcerated on Rikers Island Sunday afternoon making him the 15th inmate of the troubled detention center to perish this year. Kyron Randall, 33, became ill at about 12:10 p.m. on Dec. 21 while in custody at the George R. Vierno Center on Rikers Island. According to the Correction Department, Randall allegedly suffered what is believed to be an allergic reaction."
"Randall was arrested on June 30, 2023, on murder charges for the killing of a 56-year-old man whom he allegedly attacked inside an apartment building on Fulton Avenue in Morrisania, where they had lived. The New York Post reported that Randall allegedly attacked the neighbor during a dispute, causing severe injuries, including multiple bone fractures. The victim slipped into a coma at Lincoln Hospital and subsequently died. Police subsequently upgraded the assault charge against Randall to murder."
Kyron Randall, 33, became ill at about 12:10 p.m. on Dec. 21 while in custody at the George R. Vierno Center on Rikers Island, was administered medical aid, transferred to Elmhurst Hospital, and died there just before 1 a.m. the following morning. The Department of Correction indicated he allegedly suffered an allergic reaction but did not disclose the trigger. Correction Commissioner Lynelle Maginley-Liddie said the matter will be thoroughly investigated and offered condolences to Randall’s family. Randall was arrested June 30, 2023, on charges related to the alleged attack and death of a 56-year-old neighbor, and his case experienced multiple postponements and custody changes.
