"We have numerous witnesses stating that they hear screaming coming from the second floor shoot. Our theory right now is that she may have dropped an item into the shoot and wanted to retrieve it, and fell head first into the chute,"
"The [Medical Examine] investigation concluded that she was alive while she was in the compactor,"
Michelle Montgomery, 39, a mother of four from Gowanus, entered the Borinquen Public Houses after leaving a bar on Jan. 31. Police said she likely dropped her leather purse down a second-floor trash chute and fell headfirst while attempting to retrieve it. Multiple residents reported hearing screaming from the second-floor chute while people continued to toss garbage into the opening. NYCHA workers discovered body parts in a large basement rubbish bag around 9:40 a.m. The medical examiner concluded she was alive inside the compactor and was crushed as the compactor processed trash.
