Andrew Cuomo to run as independent for New York City mayor - UPI.com
Briefly

Andrew Cuomo announced his independent candidacy for New York City mayor after losing the Democratic primary to Zohran Mamdani. Despite conceding, Cuomo stated he aims to win the general election in November. He criticized Mamdani's approach, emphasizing the low voter turnout in the primary. Political consultant Hank Sheinkopf noted Cuomo's fundraising advantage but questioned his next steps. Polls indicate Mamdani leads, with Cuomo trailing behind. Current Mayor Eric Adams has commented on Cuomo's loss, while Mamdani's campaign criticized both Cuomo and Adams for aligning with wealthy interests.
