Aland Etienne was honored in a Brooklyn funeral attended by family, friends, and fellow security workers. Many wore purple ribbons representing their union. The community gathered to remember Etienne, who was killed in a Midtown Manhattan mass shooting while working unarmed. Loved ones remembered him as a devoted father and a hero dedicated to protecting others. Fellow security guard Michael Nared remarked on the unique brotherhood among security personnel, likening it to the camaraderie within NYPD, FDNY, and EMS. Following the service, Etienne was buried at Canarsie Cemetery.
"He's part of a brotherhood-just like the NYPD, FDNY, and EMS," said fellow security guard and doorman Michael Nared. "We're a unique group of people who do the job we do."
