LIRR resumed full service out of Penn Station by 10 a.m. Amtrak service between New York and New Jersey, and to destinations farther south, was temporarily suspended with full restoration expected Friday afternoon. NJ Transit rail service was suspended between Penn Station New York and Newark Penn Station, with cancellations and delays expected. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
