19th annual Stand Up for Heroes event held as part of New York Comedy Festival
"Anything where we can kind of contribute in some small way to acknowledge and maybe assist helping veterans and their families is a no brainer,"
"For these guys to come in and do some comedy on the topic that we deal with all the time, it's like a form of therapy,"
The 19th annual Stand Up for Heroes event took place at Lincoln Center in New York City during the New York Comedy Festival. The benefit featured comedians and musicians including Jim Gaffigan, Idina Menzel, Lea Michele, Leslie Odom and Jon Stewart. Performers combined comedy, music and personal stories to spotlight resilience, service and the needs of veterans and military families. The evening raised funds and awareness for the Bob Woodruff Foundation. The foundation provides support and assistance to veterans, service members and their families. Stand Up for Heroes has raised more than $100 million to date for veterans and military families.
