Texans offensive coordinator Nick Caley was a Patriots offensive assistant and tight-ends coach who worked under Josh McDaniels. Offensive line coach Cole Popovich held multiple assistant roles with New England. Special teams coordinator Frank Ross served as a Patriots scout. General manager Nick Caserio spent 12 years as the Patriots' director of player personnel. Josh McDaniels expressed pride that former colleagues advanced in their careers and emphasized the matchup will ultimately come down to players. Ben McDaniels is Houston's wide receivers coach.
