Practicing patience pays off for Patriots coach Mike Vrabel
"He knows there's times where he has to push and times where he has to be hard on us. It's a great dynamic that we have."
"Oh yeah, I think anybody that knows me knows that I have a great deal of patience,"
"Everybody's role is vitally important,"
"But, also, we've got to protect the identity, and part of that identity is the ball. We also believe in treating people the way they treat the team. What kind of teammate they are, how they prepare for their job, the things they are willing to do to help the team."
"Rhamondre is an excellent protector of the other people with the ball, whether that's in blitz pickup or chasing the ball and being around it and doing all those little things. I think it's just a fine line of making decisions, and all of our backs are going to play. They're all going to contribute, the same way as the ball finds different guys when Drake throws it. We're going to need everybody throughout this season."
Mike Vrabel expressed patience with players after on-field mistakes and maintained trust in their roles. Rhamondre Stevenson started five games, overcame an early first-quarter fumble, and scored two second-half touchdowns. Andy Borregales rebounded from missed extra points to convert a decisive 52-yard field goal. Vrabel emphasized protecting the team identity, valuing ball security, and treating teammates by how they treat the team and prepare. He praised Stevenson's blocking, pursuit, and ball awareness, said multiple backs will contribute, and noted running back depth worsened after Antonio Gibson tore an ACL and will miss the season.
