"Pavia was one of the signature stars from the 2025 college football season. He threw for 3,539 yards and 29 touchdowns while running for 862 yards and 10 scores. Suffice it to say, there are a lot of questions about how Pavia's game translates from college to the pros."
"At 5'10", he's undersized for the position and lacks the raw tools to make up for that. B/R NFL scout Dan Brugler noted that while Pavia has talent, he doesn't fit the mold of a prototypical NFL quarterback."
The New England Patriots have pressing needs in the 2026 draft, particularly on the offensive line and edge positions. With quarterbacks Drake Maye and Tommy DeVito already on the roster, there is no necessity to draft another quarterback. Diego Pavia of Vanderbilt, despite his college success, is not a fit due to size and character concerns. The focus should be on utilizing draft picks for positions of need rather than on quarterbacks, as past successes show the value of later-round picks.
