From homelessness to FCS football and a 'gamble' from the Patriots, Terrell Jennings just kept pushing
""Me and Antonio are actually really close," Jennings said. "That's my locker buddy as well. So, he told me 'it's your time, it's time to go.' I took that hard because that's my brother. I'm with him every day. "To see him go down like that, it hurt me to the core. So, I would be wrong if I don't go out there and do my job.""
""For me, it was kind of tough because I didn't grow up in the best situation in Jacksonville," Jennings told Boston.com. "I grew up on the north side of town, dealing with homelessness during some years of my life. That was kind of rough for me, growing up there, having that upbringing, but it molded me into who I am today. I'm always grateful for every opportunity I get, so I feel like that helped me.""
Terrell Jennings is a 24-year-old practice-squad running back for the New England Patriots who could be promoted after Antonio Gibson suffered a season-ending ACL injury. Jennings signed with the Patriots after going undrafted and has remained on the practice squad while demonstrating special-teams ability and fourth-down readiness. He attended Florida A&M and describes himself as a lifelong underdog shaped by growing up in Jacksonville, including periods of poverty and homelessness. Coaches and teammates praise his toughness, team-first attitude, and preparedness to seize opportunities. Jennings says Antonio encouraged him to step up and he feels motivated to do his job.
